Set your default formats
On the Brief tab, you will see a "full," "short," and "Id" format.
The Full Format will be used the first time the exhibit is referenced in the entire document.
The Short Format will be used any time after that for the same exhibit.
The Id Format will be used if the citation immediately follows the same exhibit citation, whether that preceding citation is the full or short format.
If you don't use one of the above formats, you can simply replace the contents with the same contents as another format. For example, if you don't use Short Formats, just use the same "full" format for both fields; if you don't use the Id Format, just replace it with whatever format you want, such as copying the Short Format.
Override or customize a format for a specific exhibit
For any specific exhibit citation, you can choose the default behavior (which uses the above logic to determine which format to use), or you can choose to override that citation with the full, short, id, or a custom format:
As the deep link is currently only linked to a specific page of a document, there are times where you may want to reference line numbers of a transcript (or something similar). In that scenario, you can add a suffix to the automatically-generated format:
This will append the suffix to the exhibit citation, whether it is a full, short, or id format.
Update your theme to match fonts
Microsoft Word limits our control over the font that each control will use, so by default it will inherit the theme font. This can be a problem if you manually changed the font instead of the theme for your legal brief.
To ensure the generated exhibit citation matches your brief text, you should set the "theme" of the Word document to match your font.
1. Choose the Design ribbon
2. Select the fonts drop down
