How to use deep links to create an exhibit reference in the Brief Add-In

Using a link with the Brief Add-in

When you type or paste a deep link into a Word document with the AgileBriefs Add-In, you will see the link converted to a "control" by Word:

The control will then default to the format you have defined in the settings:

You can then click on the control which will open that exhibit reference in the Add-In's Exhibit Details tab.

Errors you may see

If there is a problem with the link you paste, you may see an error in the control that the link is converted to.

Broken Links

If the add-in cannot find the document with the link, you will receive a "Broken Link" error:

Some possible reasons of a broken link are:

  • The link is invalid (e.g. it was manually typed and is a character is wrong)

  • The document (or case) has been deleted

  • It is linked to a different account

  • You don't have permission to view the document in AgileLaw

  • Your API key has expired

  • Your user account is suspended or your subscription has expired

If the exhibit you are linking to is not in the Brief folder you created in AgileLaw, you will see this error:
