The controls for the witness are consolidated into the Hot Seat Controls menu at the top-left of the deposition header. Click Hot Seat Controls to open it.
Show the witness your page
To control what document and page the witness is looking at, open Hot Seat Controls and click Show Witness this View. This pushes your current document, page, and zoom level to the witness's screen.
Follow along with the witness
To follow what the witness is viewing, click View Shared Screen (the button next to Hot Seat Controls). This opens the shared witness view and keeps you in sync — as the witness changes pages or zooms in and out, you continue to see what they see. While it is active the button shows Observing Yourself; click Stop Observing to end it.
Hide the witness screen
If the witness gets too distracted by a revealed document, open Hot Seat Controls and click Hide Witness Screen. Their page goes blank and the control changes to Screen Hidden. Click Reveal Screen to bring their view back.
Direct the witness to annotate
To have the witness mark up a document that you can see, open Hot Seat Controls and click Direct Witness to Annotate. This does not reveal the private annotations on your own copy — it creates a separate copy of the document for the witness to annotate. See the Witness annotations article for the full walkthrough.
The Hot Seat Controls menu also includes Pass Control (hand control to opposing counsel) and Start Presentation Mode, which are covered in their own articles.
